Commercial Lines:
Insurance for businesses, organizations, institutions, governmental agencies, and other commercial establishments
- Commercial General Liability Policy (CGL):
Commercial liability policy drafted by the Insurance Services Office containing two coverage forms, an occurrence form and a claims-made form.
- Commercial Package Policy (CPP):
A commercial policy that can be designed to meet the specific insurance needs of business firms. Property and liability coverage forms are combined to form a single policy.
Employee Benefits
- Health Maintenance Organization (HMO):
An organization that provides a wide range of comprehensive health care services for a specified group at a fixed periodic payment. The HMO can be sponsored by the government, medical schools, hospitals, employers, labor unions, consumer groups, insurance companies, and hospital medical plans.
Managed Care:
Health care systems that integrate the financing and delivery of appropriate health care services to covered individuals by arrangements with selected providers to furnish a comprehensive set of health care services, explicit standards for selection of health care providers, formal programs for ongoing quality assurance and utilization review, and significant financial incentives for members to use providers and procedures associated with the plan.
General Liability Insurance:
Coverage that pertains, for the most part, to claims arising out of the insured's liability for injuries or damage caused by ownership of property, manufacturing operations, contracting operations, sale or distribution of products, and the operation of machinery, as well as professional services.
Compulsory Auto Liability Insurance: Insurance laws in some states required motorists to carry at least certain minimum auto coverages. This is called "compulsory" insurance.
Commercial Vehicle - Covers vehicles that are owned by a company that are used on public roads, which include private passenger vehicles and trucks. Liability -
Will pay for damages that arise out of the use of a commercial vehicle, up to the policy limits. Comprehensive -
Covers damage that is caused by Fire, Theft, Lightening, Vandalism, Wind Storm, Glass Breakage, Hail, Malicious Mischief, Flood, Falling objects, collision with an animal to a covered vehicle minus the deductible.
Collision - Will pay for the insured vehicle in case of an accident minus a deductible.
Workers Compensation: A system established under state law that provides payments, without regard to fault, to employees injured in the course and scope of their employment.
Workers' Compensation Insurance:
Insurance against liability imposed on certain employers to pay benefits and furnish care to employees injured, and to pay benefits to dependents of employees killed in the course of or arising out of their employment.
Umbrella Liability: Insures losses in excess of amounts covered by other liability insurance policies; also protects the insured in many situations not covered by the usual liability polices
Property Insurance:
Insurance providing financial protection against the loss of, or damage to, real and personal property caused by such perils as fire, theft, windstorm, hail, explosion, riot, aircraft, motor vehicles, vandalism, malicious mischief, riot and civil commotion, and smoke.
Inland Marine - Provides coverage for "mobile equipment" that an insured owns. It covers the equipment itself incase of a covered lose. Meaning that it will pay for damages that occur
to the equipment, up to the policy limits and minus the deductible.
Product Liability Insurance:
Protection against financial loss arising out of the legal liability incurred by a manufacturer, merchant, or distributor because of injury or damage resulting from the use of a covered product.
